Leader Food Oy´s Food Safety Policy 2019

The quality and safety of Leader products consists of skilled personnel, innovative product development, first-class raw materials, certified quality control through our own production.

Leader’s products are manufactured in Finland, in Leader’s own production facilities in Central Ostrobothnia, Toholampi’s production plant, and in Vantaa’s production plant.

Leader’s factories are approved by the Food Authority and certified by FSSC22000 and have have been granted feed licenses since 2018.

Leader’s Quality Department is headed by Dr Magali Laasonen, Ph.D. Self-monitoring has been built on a risk-based product line by means of the HACCP system and has been approved by a local Health Inspector.

Raw material, final product analysis and shelf-life testing are carried out by food authorities-approved, accredited and the independent Eurofins laboratory. Well-trained employees and excellent traceability are an important part our quality system.


Sustainibility is guided by the following principles:

Evaluation of suppliers of raw materials and other materials is an important part of our quality control system. Our suppliers are approved once a year by the Quality Assurance Director.

Our palm oil is RSPO certified.  Organic production has been certified since 2014. UTZ has certified production for cocoa products (PL products) since 2017.

We require all our suppliers to comply with the BSCI principles. The goal is to ensure that the products offered to consumers are made in socially and ethically acceptable production conditions, taking environmental considerations into account.
